Making Your Movies
Instructional Videos

Here are some movies that you can download, which will serve as examples of how to make your instructional videos.  They may be helpful.  We want clips that are 2-6 minutes in length, accompanied by a title.  You can send us clips as an email attachment, or upload files to our server using ftp.

In your browser address line, enter ftp://ftp.ojai.net/   A dialog box will ask you for your username and password.  The username is test@users.edflix.org and the password is test.  Both of these are case sensitive.  Once we start working

together, we will assign you a private folder and password.  When the folder is open, you will see a text file.  This is to let you know that you had a successful login.  If, however, you have trouble  logging in, put your cursor at the end of the URL (the internet address) in your browser, and press the enter key.  Next, at the top of your browser, select "File" then "Login As" and reenter your username and password.  After completing these steps, simply drag and drop your file(s) into the browser window.  Finally, send us an email to let us know that you have placed a file in our FTP folder.

There are several ways to make instructional videos.  Once you have learned the process, which we will explain in the succeeding pages, you can do any of the following: 1) Prepare a subject that you already know  2) Research and develop a new topic or  3) Partner with someone else who knows another subject in-depth, and simply serve as the video producer.

In the third case, you would approach a willing teacher, professional, tradesperson, or hobbyist and ask if they would be willing to share their expertise via video.  Next, using two microphones, you would record a conversation about the subject using one of the programs that you have mastered.  Then you would edit the conversation, cutting out unnecessary material.  Finally you would illustrate the program using slides or photographs.

Please remember, this is a site in progress.  We will add new downloads to it every few days.  Please refer back to it frequently for updates.
